Leslie E. Devaney

Managing Partner

Leslie Devaney is a “true native San Diegan” and admitted to the California Bar in 1984. She graduated with honors from University of California, San Diego where she spent 2 of her total 3 years working as a resident advisor on campus. She attended the University of San Diego School of Law.

Leslie worked in the Criminal and Civil division of the San Diego City Attorney’s Office for eight years before becoming a Senior litigator for AIG, a high-risk insurance company. In 1997, Leslie became the Executive Assistant City Attorney in the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, second in command to the Elected City Attorney. She eventually ran for City Attorney in 2004 where she narrowly lost to Mike Aguirre.

Leslie joined Stutz Artiano Shinoff & Holtz in 2005 to form and build a successful Municipal/Public Agency practice. She provides City Attorney services to several cities and enjoys providing private clients advice as it relates to public agencies. That practice has evolved to create the Devaney Pate Morris & Cameron (DPMC) firm specializing in public and private representation in matters involving public agencies of all types.

As the Managing Partner and Founding Partner of DPMC, Leslie serves as the City Attorney of Del Mar (San Diego County) and Murrieta (Riverside County).  She has provided Special Counsel services to the city of Escondido, San Marcos, Chula Vista, and the County of San Diego.

Leslie and her husband, Superior Court Judge Francis Devaney, moved to Downtown San Diego after both of their girls graduated from college. Leslie loves to travel, cook and paint in her time away from the office. She remains active in politics and media relations.
